It really is a dry heat out here in Arizona. The dry heat produces a more comfortable golfing experience.

Can I go in the desert and look for my ball?
Of course you can. Please be aware of pointy plants, loose rocks and the occasional rattlesnake! As a general rule, if your ball is not in plain sight, you probably won't be able to get a club on it. So, unless you are playing a heated match, take a quick glance and drop another ball. This will speed up play and make your round more enjoyable.
What is the "Desert Rule?"
The Desert Rule is a local rule adapted for playing golf in the desert. The rule was designed to provide for an easier and quicker round. If a player hits their ball into the desert, they can take a stroke and drop a ball on the grass where the ball last crossed into the desert.
How does the course hold up in the summer?
TPC Scottsdale is in great shape all throughout the year, however we do go through a transition period in June where the winter grass starts to die out and our Bermuda grass grows in. So you may see some areas that are not as green as others, but the golf course plays very well. And compared with the rest of the golf courses in Scottsdale, we are still in the best shape during summer.
What set of tees should I play from?
The difference in tee boxes often means greater forced carries over desert. From the Tips and Blue markers are very similar with the exception of a few holes where you will definitely notice the difference. The White and Red tee boxes have been strategically placed to avoid most forced carries and offer a very pleasant experience.
How long does it take for the greens to return to normal after aeration?
Aerated greens usually take 2 weeks to return to normal. This time line can be affected by the weather. Please be sure to ask the golf shop staff if your play is scheduled after aeration.
What is over-seeding and what kind of course conditions can I expect after over-seeding?
Over-seeding is the planting of Rye grass which will withstand the cooler temperatures of the winter. This process is commonplace for courses in the Southwest. After over-seeeding, carts are usually restricted to the paths for a few months. Because this process involves growing new grass, the fairways are a little longer and the course is a little wetter. The course is still in great shape and very playable during a recent over-seed. Please ask the golf shop for an update on course conditions if you are scheduled.
