History of Danzante Bay

Culturally rich and surrounded by lots of protected land and water, the town of Loreto is undeniably special. The oldest Spanish colony in the Californias, it was founded on orders from the Spanish king by Jesuit missionaries in 1697. Now it’s home to 15,000 happy, hospitable residents and savvy visitors who discover the best places decades before anyone else. Here, the original mission church still stands in the historic central square. Music drifts along cobblestone streets leading visitors to small shops that overflow with local arts and to restaurants that burst with the bright flavors of mouthwatering Mexican cuisine. Well-served by an expanding international airport, Loreto is easily accessible from all major North American cities.
