TPC Sawgrass Charitable Initiatives
TPC Sawgrass is proud to support Birdies for the Brave®, a national initiative dedicated to honoring and showing appreciation to the courageous men and women of our United States Armed Forces, First Responders, and their families.
Birdies for the Brave was created in 2004 to raise funds for combat-wounded veterans. Thanks to the vision and the passionate support of PGA TOUR players, tournament fans, volunteers, TPC club members and corporate sponsors, Birdies for the Brave has grown exponentially across the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.
The program has always encompassed a broad spectrum of military outreach and appreciation activities conducted during PGA TOUR tournaments, as well as a series of fundraising events hosted at partner properties – an effort that has raised much-needed funds for military home front charities which have provided direct services for military members, veterans, and their families ranging from financial aid and rehabilitation programs to housing, counseling and educational scholarships and career development and recruitment.
In 2024, Birdies for the Brave was proud to broaden and expand our programming and support to include First Responders and their families and a broader scope of qualified charitable organizations.
Birdies for the Brave® supports qualified 501(c)(3) organizations that provide a wide variety of programs and services supporting military members, first responders and their families. The organizations the program supports are selected in a joint effort by PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR tournaments and our TPC network, and are vetted and approved by PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.

In 2018 THE PLAYERS Championship announced the 2018 tournament generated $9 million for local charities, surpassing the prior year’s record total of $8.7 million. The money generated by THE PLAYERS each year benefits more than 300 charities throughout Northeast Florida, totaling more than $100 million in charitable giving since the event moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1977
What THE PLAYERS has done on the charity front has been nothing short of spectacular for the Greater Jacksonville community,” said Commissioner Monahan. “On behalf of the PGA TOUR, my thanks to the Proud Partners, the more than 2,000 volunteers that work tirelessly throughout the year and our fans for their tremendous support of THE PLAYERS.”
THE PLAYERS benefits local youth charities, in line with the event’s committed goal to generate $50 million for youth-related charities over 10 years. The event is dedicated to making a significant financial impact on local non-profits that promote youth education, health and wellness, and character development. To date, $45 million has been generated toward that goal.
