Featured Holes at TPC Southwind

Among the most notable holes at TPC Southwind are the 165-yard, par-3 11th hole, considered to be a smaller version of the famous 17th Island Green at TPC Sawgrass, forcing a short iron over water to a small island green; the 231-yard, par-3 14th – consistently ranked one of the toughest par-3 holes on the PGA TOUR – which requires a long iron or wood tee to a narrow green protected by water along the entire right side of the undulating green; and the course’s spectacular 461-yard, par-4 finishing hole, requiring a tee shot played alongside a water hazard that protects the entire left side of the fairway.

Each of the course’s 18 holes was meticulously crafted by Prichard to balance playability with strategy, challenge with stunning beauty. The result is a compelling test of golf that exhilarates, confounds, inspires and delights golfers of all abilities amidst the unspoiled beauty of the Memphis countryside.

Fuzzy Zoeller, who served as a consultant on the design of TPC Southwind along with fellow TOUR player Hubert Green, said of the course, “The first thing that comes to mind is the variety of the holes and how they can be difficult for pros and yet fun for the membership. There’s a lot of character to the golf course.”

Featured Holes

PAR 4, 457 YARDS
A long dogleg to the right, slightly downhill with the second shot over a lake that is front of the green. The player needs a lot of length to get in position for the approach to the green. Ideal drive is past the large tree on the right of the fairway to ensure an open shot to the green.

PAR 3, 157 YARDS
A smaller version of the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass, but with its own uniqueness. This hole requires a short iron over water to an island green with a small pot bunker that guards the front edge of the green.

PAR 3, 239 YARDS
Elevated tee and a full carry over water to a severely undulated green. A very difficult par 3, set among a natural amphitheater. Elevated tee and a full carry over water to a severely undulated green.

PAR 4, 453 YARDS
An excellent finishing hole that places a great demand off the tee. This dogleg left has water that comes into play on the first two shots, as well as fairway bunkers on the right. Spectator mounds surround the medium-sized green.
