SILVIS, IL – Aug. 13, 2021 – TPC Deere Run, part of the TPC Network and the host of the PGA TOUR’s annual John Deere Classic, is undergoing a major bunker renovation, which began Aug. 3, 2021.
Led by PGA TOUR Design Services, with input from course architect and former PGA TOUR professional D.A. Weibring, the renovation is expected to last 132 days with the goal of returning the course bunkers to a consistent performance, aiding in the playability, maintainability and aesthetic presentation throughout all weather scenarios – delivering exceptional conditions for regular tournaments and daily play.
Beginning on holes 15-18, each bunker at TPC Deere Run will have the entirety of the sand, surrounding grass, existing liners and drainage removed before being updated with an all-new drainage system, adding “Capillary Concrete” liners and “Sidley Pro Angle” sand. Upon completion, the bunkers will then be sodded with a more tolerant “Turf Type Tall Fescue” sod. During the project, TPC Deere Run will remain open providing a special offer for golfers including $119 unlimited daily golf, while also receiving a complimentary lunch.
“We are so fortunate to be associated with John Deere and the PGA TOUR,” said TPC Deere Run’s General Manager, Todd Hajduk. “These partnerships allow for an elevated playing experience and this project speaks to their long-term commitment to our property and the John Deere Classic.”
Designed by Illinois native Weibring, this picturesque Mid-Mississippi River Valley public course masterfully preserves the natural, rolling landscape along the Rock River to create a championship golf course beautifully framed by oak trees, small ponds and deep ravines.
True to the PGA TOUR’s exceptional standards and long-held traditions, the risk-reward layout of the course has offered a welcomed challenge for some of golf’s greatest players.
After a long day on the course at TPC Deere Run, golfers can enjoy a bite at The Greenside Grille, highlighted by an outstanding view of the manicured 18th fairway, with the beautiful Rock River as a backdrop. Serving up highly acclaimed fare and an exceptional golf experience, this course it’s widely considered to be the best-kept secret in the Quad Cities.
