Course Designer Greg Norman Joins Members and Media

DULUTH, Ga. – Oct. 23, 2019 – TPC Sugarloaf celebrated the completion of an enhancement project today, revealing the results of an impressive three-year project, encompassing renovations to the Golf Courses, Clubhouse and Lifestyle Center with a goal of modernizing the amenities and enriching member experiences. Together with golf course designer Greg Norman and Greg Norman Golf Course Design, members and media enjoyed a reception at the clubhouse, followed by a golf outing on the final course completed, The Stables, a 9-hole layout originally crafted by Norman in 1997.

“We are thrilled to finally be finished with this large-scale renovation, which we could not have done without the help of Greg Norman and his design team,” said Mike Maloney, general manager of TPC Sugarloaf. “This will give us the opportunity to better serve our members and guests for years to come.”

TPC Sugarloaf features three nine-hole golf courses all designed by Norman: The Stables and The Meadows opened in 1997, and The Pines opened in 2000.

The Stables saw extensive updates including resurfaced greens, tees, fairways, rebuilt bunkers, state-of-the-art irrigation system for better coverage, as well as new and resurfaced cart paths. The updates will allow the course to be challenging for the players of the upcoming PGA TOUR Champions’ Mitsubishi Electric Classic, yet approachable for the recreational player.

“I was delighted to follow this project closely and have the privilege of returning to TPC Sugarloaf again since its full completion in 2000,” Norman said. “These are beautiful layouts that I have always been incredibly proud of and the renovations will significantly improve the club’s ability to continue to rank high among high profile properties in the state.”

With intentions to further improve the golf experience, the property also made major updates to the Clubhouse, with a significant expansion of the club restaurant, the RYE Kitchen & Bar, and the addition of a covered outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful 18th green.

In addition, TPC Sugarloaf made vast changes to its Lifestyle Center including a complete modernization, updating interiors and finishes and upgrading existing locker rooms, while restructuring the 16,000 square-foot space to allow for more open cardio, strength and group exercise. It also saw the addition of a full-service healthy café and restaurant, Tempo, offering a variety of organic, farm-fresh dining options after workouts as well as updates to the pool area including new poolside furniture with umbrellas, “resort style” cabanas and a new pool deck surface.
